Steelers' Free-Agent Boost Clears Path for BPA Draft Strategy

Doug Whaley says the Steelers’ early free-agent moves — including a potential Michael Pittman Jr. trade to add a WR, signing cornerback Jamel Dean, adding running back Rico Dowdle, bringing in punter Cameron Johnston, adding safety Darnell Savage, re-signing Asante Samuel Jr., and securing a revised deal for Cam Heyward — give Omar Khan more flexibility to draft the best player available at No. 21 rather than chasing needs. With Broderick Jones’ uncertain left tackle/OL situation and Isaac Seumalo leaving, along with ongoing considerations at safety and other spots, Pittsburgh can approach the draft with a wider board while quarterback remains the remaining question for Khan.
