Data Scientist Uses AI to Clone Group Chat

Data scientist Izzy Miller used AI to create a clone of his best friends' group chat, which has been active for the past seven years. Miller fine-tuned a large language model on 500,000 messages downloaded from his group iMessage to replicate the personality of each member. The AI system was then connected to a clone of Apple's iMessage user interface, allowing the six men and their AI clones to chat together. The project demonstrates the increasing power of AI chatbots and their ability to reproduce the mannerisms and knowledge of specific individuals. However, Miller notes that the AI clones could replicate real humans but not replace them.
