Human-like A.I. still a distant goal, says early DeepMind investor.

Despite rapid advances in AI technology, we are still far from achieving artificial general intelligence (AGI), according to Humayun Sheikh, an early investor in DeepMind. Sheikh compared the current state of large language models (LLM) to Yahoo, saying they are impressive but limited. Google, which acquired DeepMind in 2014, is doubling down on AI to compete with Microsoft and other tech companies. While some experts have raised concerns over the risks of sophisticated AI, others believe AGI may be possible in the next few years.
