Tencent's Reported Interest in Acquiring Dungeons & Dragons from Hasbro Sparks Speculation

Chinese media giant Tencent is reportedly seeking to acquire the Dungeons & Dragons IP from Hasbro due to the latter's financial issues, with Baldur’s Gate 3 studio Larian acting as an intermediary in the deal. Hasbro has denied the report, stating that they are not looking to sell the D&D IP and are focused on bringing the best digital experiences to their fans. Despite Hasbro's financial challenges, D&D remains one of its profitable assets, alongside Monopoly. Baldur’s Gate 3, part of the D&D universe, has been a critically acclaimed and commercially successful title, with a physical Deluxe Edition set for release in Q1 2024.
