Congress Members Call for Action Against Sony's Alleged Monopoly in Japan's PlayStation Market

Eleven members of U.S. Congress have signed letters accusing Sony of using "anti-competitive tactics" to gain an advantage over Microsoft in the Japanese video game market. The letters suggest that Sony's strategy of making popular third-party games PlayStation exclusive and paying to keep content off Microsoft consoles has resulted in an imbalanced market that violates the U.S.-Japan Digital Trade Agreement. The lawmakers have asked the U.S. Trade Representative to seek consultation with Japan to address the issue and identify additional barriers posed to American companies in accessing the Japanese gaming market.
