Malware-infected Android TV boxes sold on Amazon

Popular Android TV boxes sold on Amazon, powered by AllWinner and RockChip, are preloaded with malware capable of launching coordinated cyberattacks. The malware's default payload is a clickbot that generates ad money by surreptitiously tapping on ads in the background. The affected models include AllWinner T95, T95Max, RockChip X12 Plus, and X88 Pro 10. Security researchers warn that there's no easy way to remove the malware for the average user, and throwing out the box might be the best option. Amazon declined to comment on whether it reviews the security of the devices it sells or plans to remove the malware-containing devices from sale.
