Final Fantasy XVI has shipped and digitally sold 3 million copies on PlayStation 5 within six days of its exclusive release, marking a successful launch for the game. However, it falls short of the sales achieved by its predecessor, Final Fantasy XV, which sold over 5 million copies on its launch day. Despite this, Final Fantasy XVI's numbers are impressive compared to the spin-off title Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, which had a lower launch. The game's launch also falls slightly below that of Final Fantasy VII Remake in 2020.
