"Fortnite Players Eligible for Refunds in FTC Settlement: Here's How to Claim Yours"

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has begun notifying consumers that they may be eligible for refunds for in-game purchases made on Fortnite. The FTC has a $245 million settlement fund with Epic Games, the manufacturer and distributor of Fortnite, who has been accused of using design tricks to encourage unwanted in-game purchases. Eligible players include those who were charged for in-game currency between January 2017 and September 2022, had their child make unauthorized Fortnite charges between January 2017 and November 2018, or had their account locked after disputing wrongful charges with their credit card company. Epic Games agreed to pay a total of $520 million in the settlement, with $245 million allocated for refunds. Claims must be submitted online by January 17, 2024, and individual refunds will vary based on the number of applicants.
