TL;DR

The fan server "Homecoming" for the superhero MMORPG City of Heroes has been officially licensed by the game's original publisher, NCSoft. This licensing deal comes after the game was shut down in 2012 and kept alive by fans. The Homecoming server will continue to be free, supported by donations, and will keep player accounts and characters intact while promising new content in the future.
