Pokémon Champions Expands Mobile Play, Amid Disconnect Rule Controversy

Pokémon Champions’ competitive rules were refreshed: the mobile version is now eligible for certain official local events (Open Play Sessions, VGC Cups/Challenges, and Celebration Events), but Worlds and regional events still require a Switch. The update on disconnect handling—ranging from deemed-wins on decisive DCs to staff discretionary voids or replays—has sparked concern about consistency and fairness. The new season starts Sept. 9 and adds Z-form Mega Evolutions for Lucario, Absol, and Garchomp.
