Steam Implements Ban on AI-Generated Art Games

Valve, the company behind the online gaming platform Steam, appears to be blocking the release of video games that utilize AI-generated assets. While Steam's rules for developer submissions do not explicitly ban AI-made content, the company states that games cannot be published if the developer does not have all the necessary rights to the content. The issue arises from the unclear ownership of AI-generated art, as copyright laws and the U.S. Copyright Office do not recognize the machine as the owner of the artwork. Valve has reportedly denied games that use AI-made text as well. However, there are conflicting reports suggesting that these AI game bans may be a hoax.
