Edge shutters MV2 extensions, forcing MV3 or new browsers

Microsoft Edge is ending support for Manifest V2 extensions, which will effectively disable MV2 ad blockers like uBlock Origin and push users toward MV3 versions or alternative browsers. Edge says MV2 extensions will be gradually turned off by default starting this month, with consumer MV3 migration planned by the end of 2026 and enterprise deprecation in early 2027. Only 58 MV2 extensions have meaningful usage (three not on MV3), so users can switch to MV3-compatible blockers like uBlock Origin Lite or move to Opera/Firefox that still support MV2.
