Instagram tightens label on AI-generated profiles and curbs their reach

Instagram is cracking down on AI-generated “fake human” profiles by renaming the AI Creator label to AI-generated profile and vowing to limit the reach of accounts that don’t self-label. Profile owners can appeal if flagged incorrectly. Notably, Instagram says content created with AI doesn’t require a label, so the move won’t filter AI-generated material, but it marks a step toward more transparency and accountability for misleading AI personas.
