YouTube for mobile users now has an animated loading screen inspired by old CRT TVs, which was first seen on Android TV in late 2022. The animation is part of an identity update that aims to be engaging and easily recognizable. The new loading screen lacks the accompanying startup sound that plays when opening the application on Android TV. The loading screen is currently missing from YouTube on iPhone and iOS devices, and it is unclear if it will make the jump over to Apple hardware.
