Cruise CEO Kyle Vogt Steps Down Amid Safety Review

Kyle Vogt, the CEO and co-founder of Cruise, the autonomous vehicle venture owned by General Motors, has resigned from his role. The company has announced that Mo Elshenawy, the former executive vice president of engineering at Cruise, will now serve as president and CTO. Vogt's resignation follows a series of missteps by Cruise, including a voluntary recall of its robotaxis and the suspension of vehicle operations on public roads. The California Department of Motor Vehicles also suspended Cruise's deployment and testing permits after a pedestrian collision incident. GM had hoped Cruise would play a significant role in doubling the company's revenue by 2030.
