Target to Close Multiple Stores Due to Rising Theft and Organized Retail Crime

Target is closing three stores in Portland, along with six others in Seattle, San Francisco, Oakland, and New York City, citing an increase in theft and organized retail crime. The retailer stated that the safety of their team and guests, as well as unsustainable business performance, were the main reasons for the closures. Despite efforts to enhance security and implement theft-deterrent tools, Target faced challenges in operating these stores successfully. Fifteen Target stores will remain open in the Portland metro area.
