The Evolution of Black Friday: From Massive Sales to Unique Shopping Experience

Black Friday, once a hallmark celebration of American consumerism, has lost some of its significance as retailers now offer big discounts well before Thanksgiving, both in-store and online. The competitive landscape has shifted to pre-Black Friday deals, with retailers spreading out their promotions to capture early demand. While Black Friday still represents a shopping frenzy, it is not as intense as it used to be. Sales now start much earlier, with retailers introducing deals as early as October. Additionally, spending on the days approaching Christmas is considered more important for retailers. Despite signs of consumer pullback and economic pressures, the National Retail Federation forecasts a 3 to 4 percent increase in holiday sales compared to last year.
