Escalating Violence in West Bank Raises Concerns of Wider Conflict

Palestinians in the West Bank and inside Israel are facing increased violence and danger as Israeli airstrikes continue to target Gaza. In the aftermath of the Hamas attack, at least 74 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, many in settler violence. The Israeli human rights group B'tselem has documented these attacks, but there has been no accountability or arrests. Palestinians fear that the goal of this violence is to force them off their land, as has already happened in other villages. The expansion of Israeli settlements and the surge in violence have dimmed hopes for a two-state solution, and Palestinians are calling for an end to the killings on both sides.
