Israel Escalates Offensive, Widens Evacuation Orders in Southern Gaza

Israel's military has ordered more areas in and around Gaza's second-largest city of Khan Younis to evacuate as it shifts its offensive to the southern half of the territory where it believes many Hamas leaders are hiding. Heavy bombardments have been reported in Khan Younis and the southern city of Rafah, as well as parts of the north. The UN human rights chief has called for an end to the war, stating that the suffering of civilians is "too much to bear." The Israeli military has widened evacuation orders, leaving many Palestinians with few places to go. The death toll in Gaza since the start of the war has surpassed 15,200, with the majority being women and children.
