Escaped Pennsylvania prisoner sparks statewide manhunt and questions about jail security
TL;DR
Pennsylvania has increased the number of police officers involved in the manhunt for escaped prisoner Daniel Cavalcante, who was convicted of murder. The search has now entered its 10th day, with close to 400 people working on the case. The additional resources come after a prison tower guard was fired for allowing Cavalcante to escape. Officials are focusing their efforts on the area around Longwood Gardens, where Cavalcante has been spotted. Cavalcante, who was awaiting transfer to a state facility, was sentenced to life in prison for fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend in 2021.
