ODU Shooting: Students Subdue ISIS-Linked Gunman, ROTC Instructor Killed
TL;DR
An ISIS-linked gunman opened fire at Old Dominion University, killing ROTC instructor Lt. Col. Brandon Shah and wounding two others; a group of students subdued him, preventing further harm, and he died at the scene. The FBI is investigating the incident as terrorism, noting Mohamed Bailor Jalloh—a former Army National Guard member convicted in 2017 of providing material support to ISIS—was the shooter and had previously sought to buy firearms. The university canceled classes and offered counseling as investigators continue.
