SAG-AFTRA Urges Studios to Resume Bargaining as WGA Meets with AMPTP

SAG-AFTRA urges the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) to return to talks as the Writers Guild of America (WGA) prepares to meet with them. SAG-AFTRA has not heard from the AMPTP since July 12, while the WGA and AMPTP are meeting for the first time since the strike began on May 2. SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher stated that the guild is prepared for a long strike, and the WGA sent a note to members confirming the meeting with the AMPTP. Both the Los Angeles and New York City Councils have passed resolutions in support of the WGA. SAG-AFTRA does not plan to form breakout committees with the AMPTP for separate discussions. The WGA strike is in its 93rd day, while SAG-AFTRA is on day 20 of picketing.
