TL;DR

Universal Music Group has removed the music catalogs of major artists like Taylor Swift and Drake from TikTok after failing to renew licensing agreements. UMG accused TikTok of offering a "bad deal" that didn't address concerns about artist compensation and online safety, while TikTok criticized UMG for prioritizing greed over artists' interests. As a result, UMG-owned music on TikTok will be muted, and users will need to find alternative options from other labels.
