CDC Warns: COVID-19 Hospitalizations Still a Threat for Seniors and Children

According to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), adults aged 65 and above accounted for the majority of COVID-19 hospitalizations, deaths, and ICU admissions in the fourth year of the pandemic. Only 23.5 percent of this group had received the recommended COVID booster vaccine, and most had multiple underlying health conditions. The CDC advises older adults to reduce their risk by getting vaccinated, adopting preventive measures, and seeking prompt treatment. While hospitalization rates declined for all adults from January to June 2023, rates remained elevated for those aged 65 and older and increased in July.
