"Lead Contamination in Toddler Fruit Pouches Sparks Nationwide Recall"

At least seven children in five states have suffered acute lead poisoning linked to apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches marketed to children and sold nationwide. The brands WanaBana, Schnucks, and Weis have all been recalled. The FDA is urging consumers not to buy, sell, serve, or eat these products and to throw away any already purchased. Symptoms of lead poisoning include headache, abdominal pain, vomiting, anemia, irritability, and developmental delays. The FDA is investigating additional cases and working to identify other contaminated products and the source of the lead.
