"Study Reveals Alarming Link Between Extreme Heat, Air Pollution, and Fatal Heart Attacks"

A study published in the American Heart Association's journal Circulation found that extreme heat and high levels of fine particulate matter air pollution can double the risk of death from a heart attack. Analyzing over 200,000 heart attack deaths in a Chinese province, researchers discovered that days with extreme temperatures or high air pollution levels were significantly associated with increased risk, with the greatest risk observed on days with both extreme heat and high pollution. Women and older adults were particularly vulnerable. The study highlights the need to reduce exposure to extreme temperatures and air pollution to prevent premature deaths from heart attacks.
