The Emergence of "Long Colds" as a Concern alongside Long COVID

In addition to long COVID, other respiratory infections such as colds, flu, and pneumonia can also result in lasting symptoms known as "long colds" or "long flu." A recent study compared long COVID with other respiratory infections and found similarities in the symptoms experienced during the four to 12 weeks after the initial illness. These symptoms include muscle and joint pain, trouble sleeping, difficulty concentrating, lightheadedness, dizziness, and coughing. While "long colds" and "long flu" are not widely recognized terms, the study highlights the need for further research and understanding of post-infection syndromes to improve diagnosis and treatment.
