Jailed Activist's Children Accept Nobel Peace Prize Amid Uncertainty

The teenage children of Narges Mohammadi, a jailed Iranian activist, accepted the Nobel Peace Prize on her behalf. Mohammadi, who is serving a 10-year prison term in Tehran, won the prize for her work fighting against the oppression of women in Iran. In a speech smuggled from prison and read by her children, she denounced Iran's "tyrannical" government and expressed confidence in the Iranian people's ability to overcome repression. Mohammadi has been a prominent human rights figure in Iran and has been in jail almost continuously since 2010. Her husband, political activist Taghi Rahmani, lives in exile in Paris with their two children, whom they have not seen for years.
