Israeli Military Detains Al-Shifa Hospital Director, Leaving Patients in Critical Condition

The World Health Organization (WHO) has expressed concern over the fate of Muhammad Abu Salmiya, the director of Gaza City's al-Shifa Hospital, who was detained by Israel along with five other health workers during a UN mission to evacuate patients. While two of the six have been released, the well-being of the remaining four, including the hospital director, is unknown. The Israeli army alleges that the hospital was used as a command center by Hamas fighters, a claim denied by Hamas and hospital officials. The WHO is calling for the detainees' legal and human rights to be observed and is concerned about the safety of the remaining patients and health workers at al-Shifa Hospital.
