Two additional Navy ships, the USS Bataan and USS Carter Hall, carrying thousands of Marines, are heading towards the Israeli coast to potentially assist in evacuating American citizens caught in the fighting between Israel and Hamas. The Marines would also be able to provide medical assistance if needed. The USS Mesa Verde has also set sail, and it is unclear if it will join the other Navy vessels near Israel. These ships would join the USS Gerald R. Ford carrier strike group already stationed in the area, with the potential addition of the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower.
