Deadly Drone Attack on U.S. Contractor and Service Members in Syria.

A US contractor was killed and five service members were injured in a drone attack on a coalition base in northeast Syria. The Pentagon said the drone was of "Iranian origin" and carried out airstrikes on facilities in Syria used by Iran-linked groups. In response, the US carried out airstrikes against facilities in eastern Syria used by groups affiliated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps. The attacks are likely to stoke tensions with Iran, which Biden administration officials call the largest security threat in the Middle East.
