Slovakia's Political Landscape Shifts Towards Pro-Russia Sentiments

Denisa Saková, deputy head of Slovakia's Hlas party, stated that Ukraine may have to give up some of its territory occupied by Russia since 2014 in order to achieve peace. Hlas, a potential coalition partner for the pro-Russian Smer party, won 14.7% of the votes in the recent Slovak parliamentary elections. Saková emphasized the need for diplomatic negotiations to determine borders and highlighted the economic impact of the war in Ukraine on Europe. The position of Hlas makes it a strong potential coalition partner, and the leader of the party, Peter Pellegrini, suggested that an alliance of three parties would be the most stable option.
