Fatal Flash Flooding in Philadelphia Suburbs Leaves Death Toll Rising

Flash flooding caused by severe storms in Pennsylvania resulted in at least five deaths and two people missing. The floods trapped 11 vehicles on Washington Crossing Road, with three confirmed to have been swept away. Heavy rainfall and flash flood warnings were issued for parts of the Northeast, including New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Maine. The storms caused flight disruptions and life-threatening flash flooding in Maryland. The deluge in Pennsylvania overwhelmed storm sewers and streams, with six to seven inches of rain falling in less than 45 minutes. Experts attribute the increase in severe weather events to climate change.
