Massachusetts Dam Concerns and Flooding Devastation in Leominster

Evacuations are underway in Leominster, Massachusetts, after torrential rains and flash flooding caused widespread damage. Officials are concerned about potential issues with two nearby dams, including the Barret Park Pond Dam. The flooding led to washed-out roadways, flooded homes and businesses, and sinkholes. Around 30 people were rescued by boat from a mobile home park. Schools were closed as crews assessed and repaired the damage. Other areas in Massachusetts and Rhode Island also experienced flooding, and ongoing thunderstorms are expected to bring more heavy rain.
