A tornado hit Montebello, California, just eight miles east of downtown Los Angeles, damaging roofs of multiple industrial buildings, cars, and injuring at least one person. The tornado was caused by a storm system that drifted south to near Monterey Bay, drawing moist air over Southern California that helped feed the pop-up thunderstorms in the region. This was the second tornado to hit Southern California in two days, and tornadoes occur across the state almost every year.
