Adam Schiff Wins California Senate Seat, Pledges to Defend Democracy
TL;DR
Democrat Adam Schiff is projected to become California's next U.S. Senator, succeeding the late Dianne Feinstein. Schiff, a long-serving U.S. Representative and former House Intelligence Committee Chair, defeated Republican challenger and former MLB player Steve Garvey. Schiff's victory continues the Democratic Party's stronghold in California, where Republicans have not won a Senate race since 1988. Laphonza Butler, appointed to fill Feinstein's seat temporarily, did not seek a full term.
