Colorado Supreme Court Considers Trump's Eligibility in Landmark Case

A group of Colorado voters, represented by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, filed a lawsuit arguing that Trump's actions surrounding the Capitol attack and efforts to overturn the 2020 election violated the 14th Amendment, making him ineligible for office. A district court judge previously rejected the effort, stating that Trump is not subject to the 14th Amendment's disqualification because he is not an "officer of the United States." The Supreme Court's decision will come before the deadline for certifying ballots for Colorado's primary. Similar legal efforts in Minnesota and Michigan have been rejected.
