France Enshrines Abortion as Constitutional Right

France has become the first country to constitutionally enshrine the right to abortion, with parliamentarians voting to revise the country's 1958 constitution to guarantee women's freedom to abort. The move, supported by around 85% of the public, comes in response to recent developments in the US where the right to abortion was removed. While welcomed by many, including women's rights activists, the Vatican has reiterated its opposition to abortion, calling for the protection of life to be an absolute priority.
