"Rep. George Santos narrowly avoids expulsion from Congress in heated vote"
TL;DR
Rep. George Santos, a New York Republican who admitted to lying about his background and is facing federal fraud charges, survived a bipartisan effort to expel him from the House of Representatives. The expulsion resolution, led by his fellow New York Republicans, failed to reach the necessary two-thirds majority. Santos pleaded not guilty to the charges and argued for due process, while some Republicans expressed concerns about setting a dangerous precedent and wanted to wait for the House Ethics Committee's findings. The committee is expected to release its report by November 17.
