VA Democrats ask Supreme Court to salvage redrawn House districts

Virginia Democrats filed an emergency appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Virginia’s high court decision that voided a redistricting referendum and preserved newly drawn congressional maps they hope could boost Democratic seats; however, party leaders downplay the chance of changing this November’s results and say the effort may be more about future elections and organizing within the existing districts.
