White House pulls ICE director nominee amid Rand Paul objections
TL;DR
The White House withdrew Lance Schroyer’s nomination to lead ICE, offering no reason; Sen. Rand Paul blocked the nomination, citing concerns about information provided regarding the Minnesota shootings by federal agents. Schroyer, Mullin’s top pick after Todd Lyons left, has decades in local law enforcement but no ICE experience. Acting ICE Director David Venturella is expected to stay on for now, with no comment from the White House or ICE.
