"Pope Francis Presides Over Easter Services Despite Health Concerns"
TL;DR
Pope Francis overcame respiratory problems to lead Easter Sunday Mass in St. Peter's Square, making a strong appeal for peace in Gaza and a prisoner swap between Russia and Ukraine. He called for respect for international law and prompt release of prisoners, as well as an immediate cease-fire in Gaza. The pope's presence at Easter offered a reassuring sign of stability and normalcy, while in Jerusalem, Easter Mass attendance was low due to the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. In Iraq's Nineveh Plains, hundreds celebrated Easter in a region with a Christian presence since the time of Jesus.
