Euclid: Europe's Dark Universe Telescope Set for SpaceX Launch

Europe's Euclid spacecraft, a mission to study dark matter and dark energy, is set to launch on July 1 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. After liftoff, Euclid will journey to the Sun-Earth Lagrange Point 2 and spend six years gathering data on the evolution of galaxies, the expansion of the universe, and other physical phenomena. The spacecraft aims to bring sharper eyes to the sky to demystify dark matter and dark energy. Euclid is complementary to other missions, such as Gaia and the James Webb Space Telescope, that also explore cosmic time.
