NASA Reveals Astonishing Discoveries from Opened Asteroid Sample Canister

NASA's OSIRIS-REx mission has opened the asteroid-sample canister for the first time in over seven years, revealing dark powder and sand-sized particles from the asteroid Bennu. The sample, collected in October 2020, was transported to NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston and will be studied for insights into the formation of the solar system and the role of carbon-rich asteroids in the origins of life on Earth. The main asteroid sample will be accessed after the disassembly of the TAGSAM apparatus, with the sample set to be unveiled on October 11.
