NASA's OSIRIS-REx Mission Exceeds Asteroid Sample Collection Target

NASA's OSIRIS-REx mission has successfully collected 70.3 grams (2.48 ounces) of material from the asteroid Bennu, surpassing its goal of 60 grams. The samples were retrieved using the mission's Touch-and-Go Sample Mechanism (TAGSAM) and are currently stored in a sealed container. The agency plans to distribute 25% of the samples to over 200 scientists and store the remaining portion for further study. The OSIRIS-REx mission aims to provide insights into the early days of our solar system and the composition of asteroids.
