"Stunning 'Ring of Fire' Eclipse Captivates the Americas"

A rare "ring of fire" eclipse of the sun occurred on Saturday, stretching across the Americas from Oregon to Brazil. Cloudy skies threatened to obscure the view in some areas, but spectators in New Mexico were treated to a clear view. The eclipse coincided with an international balloon fiesta in New Mexico, where hot air balloon pilots created a "ring of fire" with their burners. The eclipse path included Oregon, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, Texas, and parts of California, Arizona, and Colorado in the U.S., as well as several countries in Central and South America. The next ring of fire eclipse visible in the U.S. will be in 2039.
