Florida State Faces Major Sanctions for NIL Violations

The NCAA has imposed significant sanctions on Florida State for NIL-related recruiting violations, including a two-year probation, a two-year show cause and a three-game suspension for assistant coach Alex Atkins, disassociation from the booster and his associated NIL collective, a $5,000 fine plus 1% of the football budget, and reductions in football scholarships and recruiting communications. The violations involved an impermissible recruiting contact between a booster and a transfer prospect, with the booster offering the prospect an NIL opportunity worth $15,000 a month.
