TL;DR

The iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 updates drop support for several older devices, including the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and the original iPhone X, as well as the 5th-gen $329 iPad and the first 12.9- and 9.7-inch iPad Pros from 2015 and 2016. Most of the supported iPhones and iPads include an Apple A12 Bionic chip or newer, and watchOS 10 still runs on any Series 4 or newer Apple Watch but requires an attached iPhone running iOS 17.
