TL;DR

Apple is set to release iOS 18.2 next week, which will allow iPhone users to change default apps, including the phone dialer and messenger, to more secure options like WhatsApp or Signal. This update addresses the issue of 'green bubbles'—unsecured text messages—highlighted by the FBI's warning against sending unsecured texts due to security concerns. The change aims to enhance user privacy and security, especially in light of recent hacking threats.
