The upcoming heat wave comes as the area is experiencing an intensifying drought and dangerous fire conditions, with burn bans in effect. Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport, the official climate site, has observed 20 consecutive days of temperatures 95 degrees or hotter, breaking the previous record.
